  • motor must be off while guests are in the water

Ensuring the safety of all our guests is our top priority at Polson Boat Rentals. We kindly remind everyone to adhere to an important rule: please remember to turn off boat motors whenever people are in the water.

Operating a boat with the motors running while individuals are swimming or engaging in water activities can pose serious risks. By turning off the motors, we create a safer environment, minimizing the chance of accidents or injuries.

  • Keep cell phones accessible

Having your cell phone easily accessible while boating is of utmost importance for your safety and peace of mind. We strongly encourage all our guests at Polson Boat Rentals to keep their cell phones within reach throughout their boating adventure.

Cell phones serve as a valuable communication tool in case of emergencies or unexpected situations on the water. Whether it's contacting our staff for assistance, reaching out to emergency services, or staying connected with your group, having your cell phone readily available can make a significant difference.

  • Impaired driving is strictly prohibited

Drinking and driving isn’t cool/ It’s also incredibly dangerous and illegal in the state of Montana even on the water. We understand beverages and boating is a fun combination, just keep a sober driver.

  • stay alert and be aware of hazards

When you're out on the water, staying alert and aware of potential hazards is crucial for a safe and enjoyable experience. At Polson Boat Rentals, we prioritize your well-being and want to remind you of the importance of vigilance during your boating adventure.

Being attentive to your surroundings allows you to identify and avoid any potential risks or obstacles that may arise. This includes keeping an eye out for other boaters, swimmers, or objects in the water. By staying alert, you can proactively navigate and make informed decisions to ensure the safety of yourself and others.

  • boats do not have breaks

When it comes to boating, it's important to remember that boats do not have brakes. Unlike vehicles on land, boats rely on other means to control their speed and maneuverability. This understanding is essential for a safe and enjoyable boating experience.

Instead of relying on brakes to slow down or stop, boats use throttle control and steering techniques. Decreasing the throttle gradually reduces the speed of the boat, allowing for a controlled deceleration. Stopping can be achieved by using reverse. It's important to become familiar with the throttle controls and practice using them effectively.

  • Life Jackets

Life jackets can be found underneath the seats. Children under 12 are required by the state of MT to wear life jackets at all times while on the boat. All vessels are equipped with a throwable floatation device, be aware of its location.

  • vessel batteries must stay dry

Please do not place any wet towels, clothes, etc near the battery.

  • no smoking

Please refain from smoking while on the boat.

  • the motor should never be lifted up out of the water

They are water cooled. They only take about 15 seconds before catastrophic damage is done.
